How SendItSecure™ Works
Sending a message
You use your existing e-mail address.
When you want to send an e-mail that may contain confidential
information, you simply depress the "Use SendItSecure™"
button in Microsoft Outlook. When you click send, you prove
your identity by either entering your password or scanning you
finger on a biometic fingerprint reader.
Your computer is also authenticated with a private key, giving you
two-factor authentication.
The message is then scrambled using the very strong AES encryption algorithm
with a 256-bit key. The SendItSecure™ server then keeps
the key safe from unauthorized users.
Receiving a message
When you receive a secure message, you double-click on the
message in Outlook. Then you prove your identity just like when
sending. You and your computer are verified, again giving you
two-factor authentication.
The message is descrambled with the key released by the
SendItSecure™ server after successful authentication.
All encryption and decryption keys are destroyed on your machine
as soon as they are no longer needed.
Not an Outlook user?
Not a problem. The encrypted message is stored as an
attached file, so you can send and open encrypted messages with the
stand-alone software. This allows you to use
SendItSecure™ with any e-mail client, even webmail like Hotmail, Yahoo!, or
(our favorite) Gmail.
